Kevin Owens commented on his neck injury following his announcement on Smackdown, revealing when he thinks he suffered this injury.
Owens confirmed his injury status in the Smackdown episode of April 4, announcing that he must undergo a neck operation.
For this reason, his announced Wrestlemania 41 match against Randy Orton was withdrawn from the event.
Speaking in my mother’s basement with Robbie Fox, Owens explained that he thought he had suffered his injury in a match that took place in January.
Note that his MRI in December looked good, where his MRI earlier this week confirmed a serious injury, Kevin Owens said:
“So I know very well that there is a specific moment because in December, I made an MRI of the complete body alone for curiosity, just to make sure, you know, to see if there is something that I should be aware, you know. And it’s a bit of a thing or anything, however, you know, organs, problems.
“And at the time, the report returned that my knees were s ** t, but I have been well aware of it for a long time, so there is no concern there. There is something about my spine, and you know, a light to moderate stenosis, which for what we do. And I know, I showed it to the WWE doctor.
“I am like, yes, for what you do, everyone has a level of stenosis. Everyone on earth walks at a level of stenosis. But you know, yours is your spine and your neck, and everything looks good. Everything looks good for what you have done. Are you doing well. So great and I felt good.
“But then, in January, I had a match, and in the match, two things happened that made my neck really made me, and that’s when the problem started. So I knew there was something. And then we ended up doing an MRI this week and I discovered that, yes, it is serious. So yes, I think this match in January is what did it because I had a good month.”
Kevin Owens fought twice in January, defeating Rey Mysterio in the episode of Smackdown of January 17, before winning Jimmy USO in the January 24 show.
Owens participated in two extreme stipulation games since January, facing WWE champion Cody Rhodes in a scale match at Royal Rumble in February, and defeating Sami Zayn in an unauthorized match in the elimination room in March.
