Pebe Sebert set the record straight Keshawords.
After the ‘Take It Off’ singer came under fire for her lyrics remade from her 2010 hit ‘Cannibal,’ which references the serial killer Jeffrey Dahmerhis mother – who co-wrote the song – decided to clear things up and explain how the lyrics came about.
“Jeffrey Dahmer’s set of lyrics in ‘Cannibal’ is a big controversy right now,” Pebe shared in an Oct. 2 TikTok. “I thought I’d say a few things about it because that was my line I wrote in ‘Cannibal’.”
The 66-year-old explained that the controversial lyrics, “Be too nice and you’ll be crazy / Yeah, I’ll shoot a Jeffrey Dahmer”, came from her and not her daughter, noting that Kesha and the other writer were “too young to even know who Jeffrey Dahmer was”.
“Literally the way it happened is I have this rhyme program called Master Writer for Songwriters and we were looking for a rhyme to ‘go on’, at the very end of the larger rhymes was Jeffrey Dahmer”, she continued. “I was like, ‘Oh, my God, that’s a perfect lyric.'”
