Kendall Jenner is ready to address the internet rumor that she’s a closeted lesbian.
Chatting with Owen Thiele on the January 9 episode of his In your dreams podcast, the 30-year-old model put an end to speculation surrounding her sexuality.
“Then there’s everyone on the internet who thinks I’m a lesbian,” Jenner said. “You want to know what really bothers me? It’s how mean people are about it. It’s not with a welcoming arm like, ‘Hey, if you were, yeah, come join us.’ It’s not nice. It’s very nasty. It’s a bit like: ‘What the hell are you doing?’
Jenner told Thiele that at this point in her life, if she were a lesbian, she would be open about it.
“I understand that coming out is not an easy thing for everyone, if not most people,” she said. “…but I can speak for myself here, knowing myself, I think at this point in my life I would be out if I was. …I’m just saying knowing me and knowing how I would want to live my life, I would be. I would have no problem being that.”
THE Keeping Up With the Kardashians The star added, “I think there’s this whole narrative that I’m hiding this thing…I’ve seen some really fucked up things that say, ‘This is bad for business,’ and I’m like, ‘What? How? I don’t understand.'”
Jenner concluded that although she does not currently identify as a lesbian, she is not necessarily closing the door on any experience. She went on to promise that if she was gay, “you’d probably know for real.”
“All this to say, as of today, I am not,” she said. “I don’t think I will be, but I don’t close the doors to life experiences.”
This isn’t the first time speculation has swirled around Jenner’s personal life. The model has previously made headlines for her high-profile relationships with stars, including her on-again, off-again romance with Harry Styles and her two-year relationship with NBA player Devin Booker. Jenner was also linked to rapper-singer Bad Bunny. The couple reportedly dated on and off until fall 2024 and maintained a friendship after their breakup.
When it comes to revealing details about her romantic relationships, Jenner has remained tight-lipped from the public. What she did reveal, however, is that she’s more than happy to be alone.
“I’m actually super in a ‘me’ time right now,” she told Thiele. “I’ve had great relationships, I’ve had some not-so-great relationships. I felt like during my 20s, I had a few long-term, consistent relationships…so I never really had my 20s with myself. When I turned 29, I made a minor commitment to myself: I’m not going to reject anything, I’m going to stay open to whatever feels right for me. But I really wanted to have a year for myself where I chose myself.”
Jenner added: “I really wanted to fall in love with myself again.”
