As summer approaches, Kelly Rowland decided to embrace a few lighter shades. In a bold transformation, the Destiny’s Child singer said goodbye to her dark brown locks in favor of a bold new platinum blonde bob.

Rowland debuted her new outfit at the Jhpiego Laughter Is The Best Medicine Gala in Beverley Hills last night. Rowland has been wearing her hair in a short, sleek A-line bob since last month, when she debuted the bold cut — and now, just in time for summer, she’s dyed her new bob a bright, cool shade of blonde . It’s chic, it’s fun and it’s perfect for summer.

She took to Instagram last week to share her new look on social media, writing the sassy caption: “So blondes have more fun? Huh? We’ll see……”

In keeping with her bold hair transformation, Rowland opted for an equally daring outfit at last night’s event, wearing Norma Kamali’s black fishtail dress, a sleek, form-fitting latex dress with spaghetti straps, a mermaid skirt and a bare back. She teamed the daring dominatrix-style dress with a pair of dramatic glass chandelier earrings that hung from her blunt bob down to her shoulders.

This isn’t the first time Rowland has offered a bold take on the LBD. Last October, she stepped out in a figure-hugging black dress with a dramatic side cutout held together with metal rings.
