Kelly Hyland shares the signs that led to looking for breast cancer

Kelly Hyland I had the feeling that something was wrong.

THE Dance Moms The star recently reflected on the signs that led her to see her doctor before her breast cancer diagnosis.

“The first warning sign was my significant weight loss,” Kelly explained in an exclusive interview with E! News. “I lost enough for others to notice and ask for my dieting tips, but I hadn’t changed anything in my daily life that would cause this loss.”

Then, in March, she discovered a lump in her chest.

“I booked myself a mammogram,” continued the 53-year-old, who encourages others to do a breast self-exam. “I had just had one eight months before and the results were clear. However, this new mammogram and ultrasound didn’t do it, they came back showing a mass.”

A few weeks after first discovering the lump, Kelly was diagnosed with Stage 1, Grade 3 invasive carcinoma. As she noted to E!, she is on her second of six initial chemotherapy treatments. and she plans to undergo surgery, radiation and 11 other treatments.
