Kayla Harrison completes epic body transformation as she hits the scales at career-low weight for UFC debut

Kayla Harrison completed an epic body transformation for UFC 300.

The former PFL champion successfully weighed in at bantamweight ahead of her fight with Holly Holm at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

Harrison won two Olympic gold medals in judo competing at 172 pounds.

After switching to MMA, she made a name for herself as a lightweight fighter, which allowed her to weigh 20 pounds more than Friday before UFC 300.

Harrison certainly looked like she had a tough time making 136 pounds, but she did it and now fans are excited to see what she’ll look like on fight night.

The 33-year-old has received worried messages from fans since announcing her plans to cut down to bantamweight, although she has always been confident it could be done safely.

“There’s a misconception that I walk around weighing like 180 pounds or something like that,” Harrison told KevinIole.com in January.

“I walked most of my MMA career at 165, 160, because I don’t like to lose weight. I don’t believe in weight reduction. I don’t think it sends the right message to children.

“That being said, I don’t agree with it, but sometimes you have to show up and do things you don’t agree with to achieve your dreams.

“The whole time I was (in the PFL) I was walking around at 165, maybe 160 and so not only was I usually the smaller fighter with less experience, but I was getting into the cage with girls coming in at 180, 175 lb. Now that’s not going to be the case.

“I wouldn’t have taken the plunge if I didn’t think I could do it.

“We did a cutting test. Everything from my heart rate to my blood pressure to my blood sugar was measured. We did a recovery test. We did a simulated combat test. Everything has been composed and everything has been tested.

“I really believe in my team and I really believe in myself. I’m not saying it will be easy, but the things in life that are worthwhile are usually not easy (to obtain).

“I’m going to be the biggest, strongest, fastest and, in many cases, I believe, most experienced fighter.

“I think I started backwards, starting (at the highest weight), but I was able to be successful because of my pedigree and the skills I brought to MMA. But now I have experience and now I am seasoned.

“The weight (reduction) part is going to suck, but it sucks for everyone, and I’m not special.”
