For some, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) was said to be hand in hand with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Before the recent legislative elections, this discourse had gained considerable ground among the population.
Particularly, the inaction of the BJP central leadership against BRS MLC and party president K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter Kalvakuntla Kavitha in the Delhi liquor scam has given credence to this speech. This proved costly for the BRS as it helped the Congress come to power.
Now that the elections are over, Kavitha is starting to speak the language of saffron quite openly.
On Monday, Kavitha issued a statement supporting the BJP’s protest against Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leaders’ comments against ‘Sanatan Dharma’ and questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s silence on the issue.
“Some leaders today choose to attack the religious feelings of the people for their two minutes of fame! I want to ask Mr. Election Gandhi his position on the issue of Sanatan Dharma – why has he not made a statement on this yet? It’s high time Rahul Ji came out of his PR bubble and responded to the people of India,” she tweeted.
Speaking to reporters, Kavitha said anti-Hinduism was in the DNA of the Congress.
“DMK leaders speak in the tone of dividing the country on religious grounds. Yet, the Congress has not uttered a word against the DMK,” she said.
She also demanded that Rahul Gandhi reveal his stand on the ‘hijab’ controversy in Karnataka.
“He should explain whether he supports the Karnataka government’s decision to remove restrictions on hijab,” she said.
Kavitha’s statement seemed strange as her father had strongly opposed the hijab controversy. KCR also enjoyed good relations with MK Stalin-led DMK and held several meetings in the past. He never made any statement against the DMK philosophy.
Also on Sunday, Kavitha welcomed the Narendra Modi government’s decision to suspend the newly elected body of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).
“Our wrestlers have made us proud, many women could dream of representing India on the world stage. They deserve a fair and transparent system. May this decision pave the way for a stronger future for Indian wrestling,” she said.
A few days ago, Kavitha also welcomed the Modi government’s decision to inaugurate the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
“This is a welcome development. The consecration of Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy idol at the Ayodhya temple will fulfill the dream of millions of Hindus across the country. These moves will be welcomed not only by the people of Telangana, but by the entire country. Jai Sitaram,” she tweeted.
She also issued another statement on the Bhagawad Gita, the sacred text of Hindus.
“One who devotes himself to continuous action and engages in regular study of Bhagwad Gita is free and happy in this world and is not bound by karma,” she said.
Stating that Bhagwad Gita is truly the way and means of living, Kavitha said, “My best wishes to everyone on the auspicious occasion of Gita Jayanti. May the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita illuminate our lives with wisdom and determination. »
