The 20 -year -old man who was urgently transported to hospital in critical condition after a fall to the PNC Pittsburgh park last week said on Wednesday that he stayed in pain and described his injuries as “all broken”.
Kavan Markwood gave his first known interview since the fall, saying to Triblive on Wednesday that he did not see a video of what happened and hopes to be released from the hospital in a week.
“I’m fine,” he said at the point of sale. “I can’t really sleep. I have a lot of back pain.”
He added the injuries: “I think when I come home, I’m just going to put ice on it.”
Markwood slipped a balustrade and fell 21 feet and on the field during the seventh round of the 4-3 victory of the pirates on the Chicago Cubs on April 30. He was urgently transported to the General Hospital of Allegheny in critical condition. Pittsburgh Public Safety, which includes the police and Pittsburgh EMS, described the incident an accident.
Dr. Allan Philp, chief doctor of Allegheny General Hospital, told Action News 4 on Wednesday that Markwood had suffered serious injuries to his skull, spine, coasts and lungs in the fall.
“I am happy to say that he has progressed well, he is now at a time when he is out of the breathing machine, he is out of the intensive care unit and is preparing to take the next step, which will be physiotherapy, rehabilitation,” Philp told The Outlet.
