Katy Perry’s ‘Woman’s World’ Music Video Draws Mixed Reactions

Katy PerryThe highly anticipated music video for her latest single, “Woman’s World,” is officially here and reactions are mixed.

Like many musicians before her (Beyoncé, Christina Aguilera and Pink, to name a few), she appears in her music video as Rosie the Riveter, the symbolic figure of women’s efforts during World War II who has since become an icon representing female empowerment.

Later, Perry is seen slipping into the bionic woman’s skin and flying away in a helicopter. During this time, she sings about a woman with “Fire in her eyes / Divine feminine / She was born to shine.”

Throughout the video, Katy Perry and her dancers pretend to use urinals, dance with vibrators, and the singer shouts “I’m Katy Perry” to a young woman recording a TikTok video. YouTube star Trisha Paytas also makes an appearance, pulling and then driving a jacked-up truck.

Some fans reacted with excitement to Perry’s music video, her first in two years.

“And that’s how Pop was saved,” a fan tweeted.

“Katy Perry you are CRAZY for this music video. Yeah she is REALLY BACK,” posted another.

Others were less enthusiastic.

“I’m not defending Katy Perry at all, but the nostalgia is so crazy because her new song and video are… exactly as cheesy and bad as most of her old stuff,” one user posted. “The cheap product placement, the awkward cameos… this is the most Katy Perry thing she’s done in 10 years.”

Another commenter said he watched it so “you don’t have to.”

“For something that’s supposed to be about feminism and girl power, it’s literally using every female stereotype in a super (sexual) way, making things like Rosie the Riveter and others sexy, flashy and ‘extra’,” wrote @placesiknow13. “Basically, yuck.”

The singer announced the song’s release on July 11 with a publish on X.

The single is set to appear on the upcoming album ‘143’, which will be released on September 20.
