Kate Middleton is known to pay tribute to her mother-in-law Princess Diana, and did it during a poignant service today in honor of the 80th anniversary of the day.
May 8, 1945 was declared victory on Europe, ending the Second World War on this front. To pay tribute, Kate and her husband Prince William – with a crowd of other members of the royal family – made the birthday communication during a Thanksgiving service in Westminster Abbey on Thursday. This commemoration followed events that started on May 5, including a surprise appearance of the prince and the three children of the Princess of Wales, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis on Monday.

For appearance, Kate wore a white dress with black peas, which seemed to be a recast of the order of the garter in 2023 in June of the same year. This corresponds to Kate’s recent approach to the substance rather than style, seeking not only to resume the parts frequently, but to keep the accent on her work, not on her wardrobe. Just like in 2023, the look paid an obvious tribute to a look that Princess Diana brought to Royal Ascot in 1988 (one of the many times when the princess of Wales used Polka points while a Royal who works). Kate again wore Polka points – this time in the form of a rich dress from Alessandra – to Royal Ascot in 2022, a look that reflected the own appearance of Diana to Victor Edelstein at the 1986 Epsom Derby.

“I think we have seen many examples where the reference is very intentional, and I think Kate uses fashion to pay tribute to Diana in a very positive way,” said Bethan Holt, Fashion News and director The daily telegraphsaid People.
“I think that William and Kate between them could have decided that on certain occasions, it is a very good thing for Kate to reference the fact that Diana is still a fashion muse today and to do it through her own clothes,” continued Holt, adding that “which is really key to these moments when Kate refers to Diana is not like a costume.

“She does not make an electric shoulder from the 80s or a puffy ball skirt, she makes her more elegant and more contemporary,” said Holt. “She does herself without seeming to play” Dress up in Diana “.”
Kate became Princess of Wales in September 2022 – a title which, before her, was the most closely associated with Diana. A palace source said People Let Kate “appreciate the history associated with this role, but will naturally want to turn to the future because she creates her own path”.

Less than 100 veterans were at the service of Thanksgiving today, a recall of the way in which we remain between us eight decades after the end of the war. According to PeopleAt one point, Kate “squatted on her hips to speak with animation with a woman in a wheelchair”, and other members of the royal family have mixed and heard stories of those who are part of the biggest generation and who really represent the best of us.
