Kate Middleton presents Wimbledon men’s singles trophy to Carlos Alcaraz

Kate Middleton was in the royal box on Centre Court at Wimbledon to watch defending champion Carlos Alcaraz win a second men’s singles title against Novak Djokovic.

The princess, who has been away from public view for the first half of the year due to chemotherapy, received a standing ovation as she appeared before the crowd. She has been patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club since 2016 but has been absent from this year’s tournament until today’s final.

The Princess of Wales entered the pitch after the match to present the trophies. It was her first public appearance since attending the King’s official birthday parade last month, Trooping the Colour, and appearing on the balcony with other members of the Royal Family at Buckingham Palace.

With Kate in the royal box were her daughter Charlotte and sister Pippa Matthews.

Other celebrities on centre court for the match included Tom Cruise, Benedict Cumberbatch and wife Sophie Turner, Tom Hiddleston and actress wife Zawe Ashton, Courtney Cox and former champions Andre Agassi, Lleyton Hewitt and Chris Evert.

Tom Cruise watches the men’s singles final at Wimbledon alongside Benedict Cumberbatch and his wife Sophie Turner. Former champions Lleyton Hewitt and Chris Evert were also on the pitch.

Spain’s Alcaraz won the match in three sets, 6-2, 6-2, 7-6. Spain will face England tonight in the European Football Cup final, and Alcaraz said after the match:

“I’ll watch with my team. I’ve done my job.”

Prince William, the head of the English Football Association, will be in Berlin tonight to witness the England football team’s quest for their first international victory since the 1966 World Cup.
