Kate Middleton honored by King Charles for taking on ‘more responsibilities,’ loyal service to the Crown

A job well done.

Kate Middleton has been given a special honor by King Charles in recognition for ‘taking on more responsibility’.

On Tuesday, the monarch, 75, bestowed a special honor on her daughter-in-law, the Princess of Wales, for her hard work over the years and loyal service to the Crown.

The title, known as Royal Companion of the Order of Companions of Honour, is the first to be awarded to a member of the royal family in its century-old history.

This gesture will undoubtedly come as a pleasant surprise for the princess, especially given the difficult start to the year she faced following her abdominal surgery and subsequent cancer diagnosis.

The beloved royal is currently in the midst of her cancer treatment. In March, she revealed that she was undergoing chemotherapy.

Middleton, 42, is now one of a select few to hold the prestigious title, joining exclusive names like JK Rowling, Dame Judi Dench and Sir Elton John.

The title was founded by King George V in 1917 and was created to recognize outstanding achievement in the arts, sciences and public service.

The mother-of-three, a patron of the Royal Photographic Society and the National Portrait Gallery, has also been applauded for her ongoing contributions and support of the arts.

Middleton, like much of the royal family, was forced to take on more of the workload following the abrupt departure of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who left the royal fold in 2020.

Since stepping down as a senior cabinet member and crossing the Atlantic, the Duke of Sussex has given up his British residency.

The princess wasn’t the only royal to receive an award on Tuesday.

Middleton’s husband and heir to the throne, Prince William, has been made Grand Master of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath – a title his own father held when he was Prince of Wales.

This honour, established by King George I in 1725, is awarded only to a few selected members of the military or civil service.

Elsewhere, the king’s wife, Queen Camilla, also received a prestigious honor.

Camilla was appointed Grand Master and First or Principal Lady Grand Cross of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

This long – and flashy – title is a traditional appointment for the monarch’s consort, having previously belonged to Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, to whom the late Queen Elizabeth II bestowed the honor.

Before Phillip, Queen Mary received this title from her husband, King George VI, when he was Prince of Wales.

The Order of the British Empire was founded in 1917 by King George V and honors outstanding contribution to society, both military and civilian.
