The former press secretary of the White House, Karine Jean-Pierre, has left the Democratic Party and is now independent, according to a Press release announcing its new book, “Independent: a look inside a broken white house, outside the festive lines.”

The release of Legacy Lit, an imprint of the Hachette books group, said that Jean-Pierre has chosen to “look beyond the festive lines” and adopts “life as an independent”, a decision that it indicated that it was not lightly.
Jean-Pierre, who served in the Biden administration, somewhat explains why she no longer identifies herself as a democrat, writing that she thinks that the current political moment requires “to free us from the boxes”.

“Until January 20, I was responsible for speaking on behalf of the President of the United States,” said Jean-Pierre in a statement. “At noon that day, I became a private citizen who, like all Americans and many of our allies around the world, had to face what was going to come for our country.”
Jean-Pierre became a press secretary of the White House on May 13, 2022, after Jen Psaki left the role, and she held this role until the end of the mandate of former president Joe Biden, also becoming the principal councilor to the president.
She was the first black and openly gay woman in the post, and held posts under former president Barack Obama and vice-president Kamala Harris.
His departure from the Democratic Party comes as the party seeks to resume the momentum after 2024 electoral losses.
“I determined that the danger that we face as a country requires freeing us from the boxes,” she said in the press release. “We must be willing to exercise the ability to think in a creative way and to plan strategically. We must be clear and questioned, rather than blindly faithful and obedient that we have been able to in the past.”
“Free us from the boxes is really at the heart and the soul of my new book, independent,” she added.
However, Jean-Pierre was criticized in the execution of Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential election in 2024 Health issues and ability to serve in office for another mandate.
The publishers say that in the book, Jean-Pierre will provide a more in-depth examination of the White House while Biden left the 2024 ticket due to “the betrayal of the Democratic Party which led to its decision”.
The book should be released on October 21, almost a year after the 2024 presidential election.
