“Kalki 2898 AD” sees 100% increase in national collections

The recently released film ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is approaching Rs 1,000 crore at the worldwide box office.

On its tenth day of release, the film registered a 106% increase in its collections, grossing Rs 34.45 crore at the domestic box office. In Telugu, it collected Rs 11 crore.

It also witnessed a change in its box office trend with Telugu territory taking a backseat while Hindi territory raked in Rs 18.5 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.

In India, the film, which stars cinema titans like Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone, is heading towards Rs 1,000 crore.

Its net collection in India now stands at Rs 466 crore, with global collections standing at Rs 709 crore.

The occupancy rate for morning 3D programmes is higher in Telugu than in Hindi, with occupancy rates of 32.62% and 21.79% respectively. For evening 3D programmes, the occupancy rate in Telugu is 74.77%, while in Hindi it is 58.80%.

The film continues its dream run at the box office despite the new release ‘Kill’, which managed to earn Rs 1.25 crore on its opening day.

‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has surpassed many films in its 10-day box office collections including ‘Pathan’, ‘Salaar’, ‘Saaho’, ‘Dangal’ and ‘Bahubali’.

Next in his sights is ‘Gadar 2’, starring Sunny Deol, which grossed a total of Rs. 525 crore in the country.

Considering its current performance, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is expected to surpass ‘Gadar 2’ in 3-4 days.
