Liberal media were quick to celebrate Donald Trump becoming the first US president to be criminally convicted, with Rachel Maddow calling it “final and irredeemable.”
The MSNBC anchor spoke after Trump was found guilty on all 34 counts, which she described as “everything the prosecution asked for” before challenging the nation to accept the verdict.
“The test here, for us as a country, is not about what happens on appeal, nor about sentencing,” she said. “It is a question of whether or not this former president and his allies will have succeeded in attempting to undermine the rule of law.”
“The jury, by all accounts, took this very, very seriously,” Maddow added.
Viewers also noticed CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins wearing a big smile on her face as she read the news of the former Republican president’s conviction.

As the verdict was read, former CNN anchor Don Lemon seemed to enjoy the moment, tweeting in all caps: “HE IS NOW A CONVICTED FELON.”

Speaking from inside the courthouse after hearing his fate, Trump appeared visibly furious as he criticized the “rigged and disgraceful trial.”
The ex-president declared that “the real verdict will be that of the people on November 5.”
