Kaia Gerber’s Rich Pants Are Like Pajamas You Can Wear In Public

Dressing casual on the weekend is something I always try to get right. On any given Saturday or Sunday afternoon, you’ll probably find me in oversized basketball shorts and an even bigger t-shirt – TBH, I give Adam Sandler a run for his money. I crave comfort and, admittedly, I associate it with a bad salad dressing. But there’s one style I have to lean more on, given that it looks like a sweatshirt but looks really luxe — and Kaia Gerber just wore it.

The model’s travel fit for the long weekend was chic but totally practical, and I’m more than just taking notes (if you see me in this exact look this weekend, no, you didn’t) . Gerber wore a short-sleeved blue button-down top with a slightly cropped hem, black pull-on pants and matching ballet flats. It was remarkably simple but much higher than I had hoped for on the weekend. And, while I kind of want everything she wears, the one item I immediately grab is these pants, which alone could instantly elevate my basic white tees and sneakers.

The pants had a relaxed, loose fit, but they weren’t baggy. Instead, they offered lightness and flow, which is what I favor when trying to beat the summer heat. And while it’s not clear what Gerbers are made of, the drape and lack of sheen has given them an almost linen-like appearance, but they’re not yet visible. another one of my “must-have summer fashion” boxes.

Her style sat just above her low waist and included an elastic waistband so thin I almost didn’t notice it. But even though it was practically invisible, the stretchy band is exactly why I want this style. At first glance, the pants almost look like wide-leg pants – a style that has become a cool-girl staple – but thanks to these comfortable details, they’re something you actually want to wear day after day.

Gerber also proved that they were perfect for a day of travel; they’re easy, non-restrictive, and nice enough that you don’t have to change into a whole new outfit once you arrive at your final destination. But I also like the idea of wearing them in a more dressy way. Swap out her cropped button-down shirt for an oversized shirt for an outfit you can wear to work, or pair it with a romantic top, like this one from Dôen, for an everyday summer look.

I plan to wear pull-on pants in place of my scruffy sweats and shorts all summer long, and luckily they’ll feel just as good. Shop more styles inspired by Gerber’s casual-chic pants below.
