Meghan Markle and Prince Harry helped victims of the Los Angeles wildfires on Friday – and Justine Bateman called them “disaster tourists.”
The “Family Ties” alum claimed via X on Saturday that the couple “are no better than ambulance chasers.”
The 58-year-old actress wrote: “What a disgusting ‘photo shoot’ they pulled off. They are “surveying the damage”? Are they politicians now?
She concluded: “They don’t live here; they are tourists. Tourists in disaster. #PalisadesFire.
Bateman reposted a clip over the weekend of Harry, 40, and Markle, 43, lending a hand at a convention center in Pasadena, California.
Representatives for the couple have not yet responded to Page Six’s request for comment.
Earlier in the day, Mayor Victor M. Gordo spoke to Fox 11 about the presence of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at the Pasadena Convention Center.
“These are great people, great personalities and big hearts that come here to meet the first responders, meet the people affected,” he said.
Gordo described one of Harry’s heartfelt gestures toward a victim, saying he grabbed a donut for a man who asked for one.
The Pasadena mayor recalled the individual, who did not know the royal’s identity, saying, “If you ever run for anything, I will vote for you.” »
Two days earlier, a spokesperson for Southern California Edison said Harry and Markle’s home in Montecito, Calif., was in a “high-risk zone” as fires ravaged Los Angeles County.
The couple, who were safe Monday, offered their home to friends as more than 100,000 residents were evacuated, according to People.
The couple’s Archewell Foundation has also donated supplies, clothing and children’s items to those in need.
The “Suits” alum also postponed the release of her upcoming Netflix show, “With Love, Meghan,” which was scheduled to premiere Wednesday.
In addition to Markle and Harry, Jennifer Garner and other celebrities have been photographed on the ground volunteering in Los Angeles.
Leighton Meester and Miles Teller are among the many celebrities who have lost their homes, and many have been forced to evacuate as the fires rage.
