Justin Verlander agrees to one-year, $15 million contract with Giants

Justin Verlander has a new home.

The 41-year-old right-hander agreed to a one-year contract with the Giants on Tuesday, The Post’s Jon Heyman confirmed.

MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand reported the deal is worth $15 million.

The three-time Cy Young Award winner was limited to just 17 starts in 2024 after dealing with both right shoulder inflammation and neck discomfort.

Verlander struggled when he was healthy enough to take the mound, holding a 5.48 ERA across 90 1/3 innings for Houston.

In Verlander, the Giants get an arm to help bolster the depth of the rotation, which already includes Logan Webb and Robbie Ray but lost Blake Snell to the rival Dodgers.

This will be just the second time the future Hall of Famer will pitch in the National League after he spent the first half of the 2023 season with the Mets before he was traded back to Houston, where he had pitched from 2017-22.

Verlander’s Mets contract also came with a $35 million vesting option for 2025 if he passed the 140-inning mark in 2024, which he fell well short of.

Had he reached the innings threshold, the Mets would have been on the hook for $17.5 million this coming season.

Verlander enters his age-42 season, his 20th in the big leagues, as MLB’s active leader in wins (262).
