Justin Timberlake dancing with Beyoncé at “Single Ladies” hardly happened

The emblematic Saturday Night Live Sketch “Single Ladies” featuring Justin Timberlake, Andy Samberg and Bobby Moynihan as a Beyoncé rescue dancers almost did not happen.

It took Timberlake’s intervention in the form of a leotard and heels to help convince Beyoncé, Weekly entertainment reported.

“She was very polite on this subject, but she was very hesitant, and when I say hesitant, I mean, as, she didn’t have it,” Timberlake told the initial reaction of Beyoncé to her argument in the documentary Ladies & Gentleman… 50 years of SNL musicwhich was broadcast on NBC on February 15.

The idea was born when Samberg (with whom Timberlake had previously done “Dick in a Box”) sending him the idea of recreating the Beyoncé clip in 2008 in 2008 for her tube “Single Ladies (puts a ring on it). “”

“He said: ‘Bobby Moynihan has this excellent idea for a sketch about you, me and him being Beyoncé’s background dancers for” single ladies “who have never made the” “, said Timberlake. Snl.

“I said to myself:” Complete teloccule? ” And it is like, “yeah”, continued Timberlake. “And I said to myself: ‘Oh, it’s too funny. Like – we have to do that. “”

When it was a question of convincing Beyoncé, it took a little work. The winning interpreter of a Grammy said that she was confused, because the song – called the “single ladies”, after all – should probably have dancers who were “strong and beautiful women”, according to Paul Rudd , because he too was in the sketch and I remembered the moment.

“I say to myself,” Does she know how funny it is? ” How much will this point be loved? “Said Timberlake in the documentary. To prove his point, he said, “Bring me the leotard.”

To assert the sketch, Timberlake put the black leotard, tights and high heels – with a dress covering her whole – and was heading for the Beyoncé locker room. “I hit his door,” he said. “I entered and threw the dress, and I put my hands on my hips.”

The risk worked. Beyoncé – as a laureate at Timberlake’s outfit – simply said: “No, you didn’t do it,” recalls Timberlake.

The sketch, of course, has become an instant classic, and Beyoncé and her real rescue dancers interpreted the song and her dance often imitated the same Snl.
