GOOD. I have already heard initials worse, but I certainly do not like the tenor of this update. I will keep my hopes, however, because Justin Steele is very important for the Cubs of Chicago 2025.
After being placed on the injured list with an elbow tendonitis – something he treated last year over a period of two and a half weeks – Justin Steele made a certain time on the elbow, probably to confirm the diagnosis.
Here’s how MRI results are discussed tonight:
By advice, #Cubs Justin Steele will have a second opinion on his tendinitis of the left elbow. It is the third time that he has taken this injury. They want to know why it continues to happen and if it is more serious than tendinitis. – Taylor McGregor (@taylor_mcgregor) April 12, 2025
Leaving Cubs Justin Steele will get a second opinion on his injured elbow, said Craig Counsell.
Thursday’s MRI showed that Steele dealt essentially the same problem he dealt with last year, when the tendonitis prevented it a little more than two weeks later. – Alden González (@alden_gonzalez) April 12, 2025
The Cubs obtain a 2nd opinion on the elbow of Justin Steele, said Craig Counsell, adding that the fact that it was a recurring injury in the decision.
“We want to make sure that we know why it happened, so Justin has all the information and then we can start from there.” – Maddie Lee (@maddie_m_lee) April 12, 2025
Justin Steele will receive “more opinions” on his tendinitis of the left elbow, by Craig advisor.

On the one hand, it is not as if someone was outside to say that there is damage in the elbow. On the other hand, whenever a guy needs to get additional opinions after an MRI, you will worry more than if he had looked at it and said: “Cool, no structural damage.” A certain discomfort is justified, although I retain a complete panic until someone says that MRI shows real damage.
The best hope at the moment is that something very minor causes tendonitis and can be addressed without any kind of surgical procedure. Even in this case, it is conceivable that the rest and rehabilitation this time can take longer than we have seen in the past. I prepare for the cubs to be without Steele longer than the minimum Il. I hope we will soon find out how long.
In the meantime, Jordan Wicks has not started at Iowa for the past two days and is not in the weekend calendar. It is therefore a good bet that the cubs hold it in case they like to be the only one to take the start of Sunday. If Steele will miss several weeks, and if Javier Assad is not yet ready, then Wicks is – for me – the most sensible candidate to take a place in the medium term.
