In the latest development in the legal battle between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively, the actor accuses Ryan Reynolds of creating the Nicepool character in “Deadpool & Wolverine” in a “deliberate attempt to mock, harass, ridicule, to intimidate or intimidate Baldoni”.
Reynolds is, of course, married to Lively, who sued Baldoni for sexual harassment on the set of the domestic violence drama “It Ends With Us” last month. Although Baldoni has yet to directly sue Lively, his lawyer vowed last week to sue the actress “to oblivion.”
On January 7, the actor sent a letter to Marvel’s Kevin Feige and Disney chief Bob Iger asking them to turn over “all documents relating to the development of the ‘Nicepool’ character” as well as “communications relating to development, writing and filming scripts and scenes featuring “Nicepool”.
In the superhero film, Reynolds appears as a version of the character known as “Nicepool”, the opposite of the sarcastic Deadpool.
At one point, Nicepool congratulates Ladypool (played by Lively) for “getting back” into shape after giving birth. Among Lively’s allegations against Baldoni are that he shamed her during the filming of “It Ends With Us,” which was filmed shortly after she gave birth.
The ultra-nice character also jokingly asks for an intimacy coordinator in one scene: Lively alleged that Baldoni, who also directed “It Ends With Us,” had “inserted improvised gratuitous sexual content and/or scenes involving nudity” in the film.
Baldoni filed a $250 million lawsuit against the New York Times for defamation over the Dec. 21 article titled “We Can Bury Anyone: Inside a Hollywood Smear Machine” on the alleged campaign to “tarnish” Lively after she accused him of misconduct. .
Disney acquired the rights to Deadpool, as well as the X-Men franchise, when it purchased 20th Century Fox in 2019.
