Kayla Harrison’s long -awaited luck to fight for UFC gold is now defined.
The double Olympic gold medalist and double champion of PFL Harrison (18-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) will challenge Julianna Pena (11-5 MMA, 8-3 UFC) for the women’s weight championship at UFC 316 on June 7 at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ, NJ, NJ, NJ, NJ, NJ
The CEO of the UFC, Dana White, announced the news on Tuesday on Instagram Live as part of a series of UFC 316 matches.
Peña, 35, won the title of 135 pounds for the second time last October with a controversial decision -making shared against Raquel Pennington at the UFC 307. She urged Amanda Nunes to get out of her retirement for a trilogy but will not receive her wish.
Instead, Harrison, 34, will obtain his first crack at a belt inside the octagon. After coming from PFL in early 2024, Harrison opened his career at the UFC with a submission from Holly Holm and a decision victory on Ketlen Vieira.
The latest range for the UFC 316 now includes:
- Merab Dvalishvili field against Sean O’malley – for the COQ weight title
- Julianna Peña field against Kayla Harrison – for the female rooster weight title
- Mario Bautista against Marlon Vera
- Shamil gasiev against Serghei Spivac
- Bruno Silva vs Joshua Van
- Azamat Murzakanov against Johnny Walker
