Andrew Garfield and Ayo Edebiri brought the first trailer for their new thriller After hunting in Cinemacon.
Luca Guadagnino joined its Cast members to tease the film Amazon MGM Studios which also features Julia Roberts and will be released in theaters selected on October 10 before developing the following week. Originally from Imagine entertainment, After hunting Focus on a university professor (Roberts) who is forced to confront her own dark past when an eminent student (Edebiri) accusing one of her colleagues (Garfield).
“I wanted to work with Luca for 15, 20 years and finally we were able to do so,” Garfield told the crowd. He called Guadagnino’s work “sumptuous, sensual and affirming life”.
Edebiri added: “This is a film that is designed to see with other people to speak and discuss and feel simply.”
The trailer shows that Edebiri came to Roberts to confide in her. “He crossed the line,” said Edebiri about the character of Garfield. “He continued after saying no.”
In a later scene, Garfield said to Roberts, “I told her that I suspected that she plagued.” He then called the student as “this little whore of liar dog”.
The trailer ends with Edebiri by saying to Roberts: “I no longer feel comfortable having this conversation with you.” Roberts replies: “Everything is not supposed to make you comfortable.”
Michael Stuhlbarg and Chloƫ Sevigny complete the cast.
Guadagnino directed the film of a script by Nora Garrett. The producers are Guadagnino, Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody and Allan Mandelbaum. Mandelbaum d’Amagine brought the script to the production company and worked with CAA to land Roberts and Guadagnino.
After hunting Guadagnino meeting with Amazon MGM Studios, which released his film led by Zendaya Challenge Last year. Its other features as a director include Call me by name (2017), Suspiria (2018), Bone and everything (2022) and Weird (2024).
Roberts’ recent film credits include universal romantic comedy Ticket for paradise Alongside George Clooney and Thriller Netflix from last year Leave the world behind It played Mahershala Ali and Ethan Hawke.
Cinemacon is the annual event for Hollywood exhibitors and studios which take place this year from March 31 to April 3. It is presented by Cinema United (formerly the National Association of theater owners).
