JP Morgan says higher profits don’t mean prices are rising this season

JP Morgan analysts expect companies to post higher profits, but that’s not necessarily enough to push prices higher.

“Probable outperformance does not necessarily mean shares will advance during the reporting season,”

JPM says the factors weighing on prices are:

  • the stock market has already been significantly revalued in the first quarter
  • fears of persistent inflation
  • fears linked to geopolitical uncertainty
  • concerns about interest rates, these “increases for the “wrong reason””
