An 11-year-old boy was violently mauled by his family’s bulldog in a terrifying incident at his aunt’s apartment.
Joshua Rivera was bitten several times in the face and arm by the dog named Aries on Tuesday shortly before 3 p.m.
Rivera was quickly transported to a local hospital for surgery and is believed to be in stable condition following the horrific attack.
The incident happened at his aunt Johanna Lopez-Ramos’ apartment on Manhattan’s Lower East Side.
According to ABC, it took two people to snatch the dog from the screaming young boy.

The dog had been used as a therapy dog for Lopez-Ramos and his mental health
His aunt told the outlet: “I just heard my nephew scream and I ran out the back door and just had to react quickly to separate them.
“I got bitten trying to separate them.”
Joshua and his brother Julian are living with their aunt after their mother died of cancer a few months ago.
Julian told the outlet: “The dog started biting him, attacking him and jumping over him. I saw him and ran.
According to his aunt, Rivera and his twin both suffer from ADHD and may have been overly excited by the dog, which triggered the attack.
Rivera said she thought Aries was sweet, until she heard her nephew’s screams.
Aries was barricaded inside the apartment until ESU officers carried the dog out of the building.
