The patriots will start their off -season program next week and it will give the quarter Drake Maye his first chance of working with the attacking coordinator Josh McDaniels.
McDaniels returned to New England after Mike Vrabel was hired as head coach and he declared during a press conference on Thursday that he was “struck” with the personality of the first round choice in 2024. He also said that he would be “super fun” for him to get to know Maye on the football field in order to develop an offensive approach that “will maximize” what the quarter “will maximize” what the quarter can do.
This will be done within the framework of the global McDaniel program and he said that there will be a transition period for Maye when he learns the system, although he does not expect the process to be particularly trying.
“It will be different,” said McDaniels, via a team transcription. “I think that sometimes it can become exaggerated because a word is Apple, another word is tomato, and a system, it means one thing and another system, it means something else. Things, and I’m also doing the same thing.
Maye was roughly the only positive for the patriots during a dark 2024 season. Trinbel and McDaniels were hired to make sure that there is no more to love in New England in 2025 and beyond, but getting the most out of Maye will remain crucial for all the team’s plans.
