Jose Luis Ballester took an unusual bathroom break during the opening round of the 2025 Masters on Thursday.
Ballester explained that he had forgotten that there were bathrooms near the Tee-Box on the 13th hole and relieved himself to the tributary of Rae’s Creek, according to Dave Wilson d’Espn.
“I’m like, I really need to pee,” said Ballester, via Wilson. “I didn’t really know where to go, and as I had a problem on green, I say to myself, I’m going to sneak here in the river and probably people wouldn’t see me as much.”
The 21 -year -old finished the first round with a four out of 76.
Ballester, who was twinned with Scottie Scheffler and Justin Thomas, revealed that he was not embarrassed by the attention he received for the incident.
“It was not at all embarrassing for me,” said Ballester, by Wilson. “If I had to start again, I would do it again.”
He had a hard time starting his first appearance in control, carding two Bogeys and a triple Bogey through the first five holes. Ballester looked much sharper on the nine rear, finishing with a Bogey and a Birdie.
The Senior of Arizona State struck his ticket for the Masters with an American amateur victory in 2024 at the Hazeltine National Golf Club in August 2024. He became the first Spaniard to raise the Havemeyer trophy.
Ballester has three terms in the top five during its current academic season, which includes a victory in the Illini Invitational Fight and a vice-champion in the Sahalee players’ championship.
Friday, he will be twinned with Scheffler and Thomas after his unique bathroom break, trying to rely on his scoring in the first round.
