Augusta, Georgia. – Jose Luis Ballester made an impression on fans during his first appearance in Masters on Thursday.
The 21 -year -old Spaniard, who plays at Arizona State, needed a bathroom break and decided, when you have to go, you have to go.
Ballester said he forgot that there were bathrooms just to the left of the Tee box on the 13th hole, so he ran to the tributary of the Rae stream and relieved while playing the partner Justin Thomas was still on the 12th green.
“I’m like, I really need to pee,” said Ballester after his turn. “I didn’t really know where to go, and as I had a problem on green, I say to myself, I’m going to sneak here in the river and probably people wouldn’t see me as much.”
Except that they have seen a lot, leading to a roar of customers.
“They applauded for me,” said Ballester. “Probably one of the applause that I really had very strong today. So it was quite funny.”
Ballester, who was twinned with Scottie Scheffler and Thomas, made waves by wearing a cap of the Arizona State featuring the words “Sun Devils” upside down, with fans on social networks saying that he was rude during an event like The Masters.
Ballester had a hard time at 76, going 4 to the first nine with a birdie, two bogeys and a triple bogey. He said he had been able to chat a little with Scheffler, calling him a “VIP pass” to play with both stars.
“I tried to warm up, I tried to be myself, to listen to music, I tried to stay focused,” said Ballester. “I was not intimidated at all by the twinning that I had.”
He said he had regretted the way he started, made a few mistakes and was unlucky on the fifth hole, where he carded a double Bogey 7. But he had no problem with what attracted him the most day and said he was not concerned about the breakdown of his break from the bathroom.
“It was not at all embarrassing for me,” said Ballester. “If I had to start again, I would do it again.”
