Fijian rugby star Josaia Raisuqe was tragically died while going to training Thursday morning at the age of 30.
The former winger of Fiji Sevens, who had been playing Castres Olympique since 2021, would have died following a road accident.
The team reports claim that the soccer star was “struck by a train at a level level”.
The point of sale adds that his teammates were informed of the incident and were released Thursday by the club.
A psychological unit has also been created to provide players and support staff.
Castres or the Fiji have not yet made a statement, but several other French clubs and members of the Rugby Union community paid tribute to the Fiji star.
In 2024, Raisuqe represented the Fiji at the Paris Olympic Games, with the winger to help his team win a silver medal.
“Josaia was an absolutely adorable boy. He was always the first in training, he was raining, wind or snow, “said former coach Xavier Pénéja.


The top 14 club should face Claremont on Saturday at the Pierre-Fabre stadium.
Raisuqe was drafted in the male Fiji team by coach Ben Ryan in 2015, after the legendary Sevens coach spotted him playing during the Martintar and Marist Sevens tournaments in Fiji.
He was drafted directly in the team for Hong Kong Sevens of this year, before participating in five tournaments on the Sevens circuit, notably marking 14 tries.
Later in 2015, he wrote an agreement to join the Parisian club Stade Français and remained in the Top 14 for two years, leaving for the Pro D2 Club Nevers in 2017.
He was going to join Pro D2, being crowned the top scorer in the League for the 2018-19 season with 15 trials.
The Fidjian winger became viral in 2021 after raising a referee in the air strangely to celebrate a victory in the French second division.
Although he admitted that he did not want to harm the referee and that he was just overwhelmed with joy after the Raisuqe victory received a red card by the official and was prohibited for five weeks.
That year, he would join Castres and play from the club.



Several rugby clubs of the French upper division paid tribute to the winger of Castres with Toulouse writing on X: ‘Stade Toulousain was shocked to learn the death of Josaia Raisuqe this morning in a road accident.
“The whole club wishes to express its support and sincere condolences to its family, relatives and club, Castres Olympique.”
Toulon added in a press release on social networks: “ The Toulon rugby club is devastated to learn the death of Josaia Raisuqe this morning, when he was on the way to train.
“Our thoughts go to his family, his relatives, his teammates, the Castres Olympique Club and his supporters.
