Jordan Love: Josh Jacobs won’t set record for most receptions without a TD
Running back Josh Jacobs has done a lot in the NFL, but there remains a glaring hole on his resume.
Jacobs caught 197 passes in his five seasons with the Raiders and threw for 1,448 yards. However, none of those yards went to the end zone, leaving Jacobs on pace to set an NFL record early in his tenure with the Packers.
Former NFL running back Gerald Riggs has 201 career receptions without a touchdown, and no NFL player has ever caught that many passes without a score. Jacobs and Riggs are the only players in NFL history to catch more than 146 passes without a six-pointer, and Packers quarterback Jordan Love vowed his new teammate wouldn’t become the record holder.
“No, that’s it It will not arrive“, Love said, via Launderer’s Report“I saw this the other day. I’m surprised he hasn’t scored a touchdown yet. Let’s see, there it is, 197 career receptions, zero receiving touchdowns. I sent him that, I said, ‘Bro, we’re gonna make you score a touchdown for sure.’ The first pass he gets might be a touchdown, who knows. We’ll see. Five more receptions? We’re gonna make sure he scores a touchdown there.”
Aaron Jones had 2.7 receptions per game as the Packers’ leading back last season, so Love and Jacobs may have to strike early to avoid a passing of the torch.
