Joon Park, co-founder of the capital of Kodai, joins the multi-surtegie melee in a new role at Balyasny.
Park, who launched the capital of Kodai with the former director of the portfolio of Citadel Neville Shah in 2020 with Money From Millennium, will be the director of the operating of shares at 23 billion Dollars Balyasny, two people familiar with the case, told Business Insider.
In the new role, Park will directly report from Dmitry Balyasny, the founder of the company, who directs the unit of actions and redid the group alongside executives such as Steve Schurr and Archana Parekh.
Blayasny refused to comment. Bloomberg reported the Park movement earlier and Kodai’s trigger.
Park’s imminent departure contributed to Kodai’s decision to return capital to its investors, according to three people knowing the decision. Another factor in the decision was poor performance, these people said. Kodai had lost money last year until the first tumultuous quarter of 2025, although the exact amount is not clear.
Kodai, Park and Shah did not immediately return requests for comments.
The founding team of Kodai was among the most notable examples to make a Chelnnium check to start their business, a structure that the company of the billionaire Izzy Englander has more and more transformed to attract talent to manage the active as a constant evolution of the giant.
Kodai had managed to raise capital from donors other than Millennium, said people close to the manager, and built an important team in four years. A recent regulatory deposit said that the director had 21 investment professionals with staff.
Park is not an investor, working in operations with several managers, including Alyeska and Citadel, before starting Kodai with Shah and serving as a president and the company’s COO. Park and Shah worked together at Citadel in the global actions of the company based in Miami.
