One of Jonathan Kuminga’s main priorities seems to be a potential return to Warriors is security.
Anthony Slater of ESPN reported on Friday on “NBA Today” that the veteran striker of the fifth year of the NBA would not return to Golden State if he does not believe that he is in the long -term plans of the organization.
“Kuminga wants more than one friendly agreement – more than one signal that it is a construction block and not only a commercial asset; the word I heard on the Kuminga side is” Pawn “,” said Slater. “He does not want to sign this 45 million dollars agreement over two years with a team option where he is clearly used to being exchanged in mid-season.
“This is not something he wants to register.”
Kuminga, like most players, does not want to be a commercial bait – he wants a house.
The bay was only 22 years old, since the Warriors selected Kuminga with the overall choice n ° 7 during the NBA 2021 draft. But Golden State and Kuminga have not yet concluded an agreement.
Slater explained which aspects could change the mind of Kuminga.
“Now, if you are talking about a three -year agreement (or) something with a player option that shows him a little more commitment, it’s something that would be interested in him,” said Slater.
Time is exhausted for the Warriors to extend the hypothetical agreement adapted to players in Kuminga. In the same breath, the attacker should not like the offers he has seen from other teams, since the limited free agent has not yet accepted an offer.
Slater concluded saying that none of the parties – Kuminga and the Warriors – had moved this summer.
“For the moment, the warriors have hesitated to do so,” said Slater. “Kuminga reports to those around him that he is very willing and prefers the qualification offer on the agreement of $ 45 million over two years, and it is dangerous for the Warriors.
“They could try to call his bluff, but right now, he seems to have tendency to the qualification offer.”
