Jon Lovitz makes a plea to restart his lively sitcom from the 90s ‘The Critic’

Hachi Machi, the animated sitcom of the 1990s “the critic” could finally look at a return! Speculation is following two articles from the co-creator of the program, Al Jean, and his star, the favorite of “Saturday Night Live”, Jon Lovitz, who both turned to X, formerly known as Twitter, to have a meaning for if the fans could want the series to be relaunched.

“Just curious … How many would like to see” the critic “, with Jon Lovitz return?” said Jean in his post on Thursday, March 27.

The next morning, Lovitz himself jumped into the fray. He wrote on X: “Fans of criticism !!!! you keep telling me that you want it to come back. I have been trying for years! Well, now, the creator al Jean is on board !!!”

Based on tens of thousands of likes and retweets, it seems that the thirst for the show is palpable, but Lovitz begs fans to be vocals in their support. It would seem that the studios are watching and with enough excitement, Lovitz and Jean may have another chance of reveling in the parodies of films and celebrity hi-jinks.

“If you wish, we need your help!” Please love this post and pass the word! ” said Lovitz. “So we can show the studio, how many people want it!”

“The Critic” was originally broadcast on ABC before being transferred to Fox for his second season, where he was canceled after broadcast 10 episodes. A series of brief webisodes was published online in 2000-2001 and presented on the DVD which came later.

Sprayning of the writing team of “The Simpsons” by Jean and Mike Reiss, “The Critic” followed the career and the buffoonemeries of the film critic Jay Sherman, a Neblois and a wealthy family who savor his opportunity to cut filmmakers and major celebrities. His famous slogan, “It stinks!” Even competed even “Thumbs Up” by Siskell & Ebert and spoke to the criticisms of power held towards the end of the 20th century. The spectacle as a whole aimed at distorting the corporatization of the arts and entertainment, a subject that has only become more worthy of satire with streaming Advent and while vision habits continue to change between different generations.

With the recent Hollywood satire of Seth Rogen, “The Studio”, exploding on Apple TV +, it would seem that others wish to capitalize on the desire to see the entertainment industry also ridiculed. With the invasive AI the cinema and the intellectual property which continues to reign supreme, the acerbic spirit and the commentary of “The Critic of the Critique” could not arrive at a better time.
