Jon Bon Jovi admits he ‘escaped murder’ and had ‘100 girls in my life’ in his early days as a rock star

Giving love a bad name?

Jon Bon Jovi has admitted he indulged a little too much in the rock star lifestyle during the iconic group’s early days in the 1980s.

The rocker, who admits he is no saint when it comes to his 35 years of marriage, said life was “pretty good” for him when Bon Jovi became a global celebrity.

“I got away with murder,” the “Livin’ on a Prayer” singer told Michael Strahan in ABC’s “Halfway There” interview special. “I’m a rock and roll star, I’m not a saint. You know, I’m not saying there weren’t 100 girls in my life – my name is Jon Bon Jovi. It was pretty good.

“But if you think I would ever jeopardize my… something to believe that the narcissist in me was real? What a stupid thing to do. What kind of excess does a man need to fuel this fire? It’s just not worth it.

The group released their first album in 1984. At the time, the rocker was already dating Dorothea, now his wife.

By the time they married at Las Vegas’ Graceland Chapel in 1989, Bon Jovi was a well-established “sex symbol.”

“There is no doubt in my mind that this world turns because of her,” he said of his wife. “Because of what she did to keep the children well, what she does to keep me well, what we do together to keep everything going well. No doubt about it.”

“She’s definitely not afraid to call me out, but she’s also there when I fall.”

“And I’m there for her when she falls.” No matter where I have been in my career, the highs or the lows, we have been there together,” he added.

Bon Jovi, who shares four children with Dorothea, says “growing up together is an integral part” of a marriage, adding that his high school sweetheart “came from nothing, same hometown, same high school, same group of peripheral friends.” .

Last week, the rocker lifted the lid on his three-decade-plus union, admitting he wasn’t always “a saint” throughout his marriage.

The “You Give Love a Bad Name” singer and his wife are preparing to celebrate their 35th anniversary next week, but the rocker admitted they wouldn’t have reached the milestone without his wife’s “tolerance.”
