Johnny Depp not done fighting her ex Amber Heard in class.
According to court documents obtained by E! News on July 22, the Pirates of Caribbean star has filed a notice of appeal seeking to overturn the $2 million verdict awarded to Heard in the couple’s defamation lawsuit.
“This was an extremely positive verdict for Mr. Depp,” Depp’s reps said in a statement to E! New. “The verdict speaks for itself, and Mr. Depp believes this is a time for both parties to move on with their lives and heal. But if Ms. Heard is determined to pursue other lawsuits by appealing the verdict, Mr. Depp is filing a concurrent appeal to ensure that the full case and all relevant legal issues are reviewed by the Court of Appeals.”
E ! News reached out to Heard’s team for comment and did not hear back.
On June 1, a Virginia jury returned a verdict in Depp and Heard’s defamation lawsuit, which lasted more than six weeks and grabbed headlines around the world.
