A few years ago, the Ravens head coach John Harbaugh sat in his media availability at the annual League of the League just after the quarter-Arrière Lamar Jackson made public his commercial request.
All of this dismay is now well in the rear view mirror, because Jackson has signed a five -year contract about a month later. He won a MVP and was appointed AP in first All-Pro team during the two seasons since.
But Jackson’s contract reproduced during the League meeting on Monday, while the quarter’s ceiling number is scheduled for $ 70 million in 2026. Although a year of leave, Harbaugh told journalists at this year’s league meeting that the franchise had some internal conversations on an extension for the quarter.
“How far is or anything, I don’t know,” said Harbaugh. “But I really think that this is an obvious point that you will do, it will continue to be tackled, really, with all these guys. You must simply manage this dance – this salary dance. And Lamar is the main part of that because he is the franchise player. So, that’s a possibility, I think.
“Sooner or later it will certainly have to happen.
Harbaugh added that once Jackson has obtained a new agreement, he will again be the best paid player in the League.
Jackson, 28, undoubtedly set up his best season in 2024, reaching 66.7% of his passes for 4,172 yards with 41 affected and four interceptions. He also rushed on 915 yards with four TDs, with an average of 6.6 yards per race.
Twice MVP AP, Jackson is expected to have $ 43.5 million against the ceiling in 2025.
