Watergate figure John Dean spoke out on the importance of the documents presented to the former president Donald TrumpThe silent money trial revealed what made him agitated about the proceedings.
Trump is accused of falsifying business records to conceal money he allegedly paid porn actor Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election to silence her about their alleged past affair.
Dean, who served as President Richard Nixon’s White House counsel and later urged Nixon to cooperate with prosecutors, told CNN over the weekend that “a lot of documents” were involved in the case.
But he emphasized: “We don’t know whether or not they have any information or witnesses or documents that directly tie Donald Trump to the falsification of the documents or if that’s going to be something that has to be inferred from really damning evidence.” that there was no other way this could have happened other than if he had allowed it to happen.
“It’s a thinner file,” he explained. “If they have a direct witness, or if they have direct evidence, it will be a powerful case.”
“So that’s what’s keeping me in suspense as I watch what’s going on,” Dean added.
