John Corbett Says His Hollywood Acting Career Was Unsatisfactory

In hindsight, John Corbett would have done things differently in his career.

The 63-year-old actor said it was not “fulfilling” to be a TV actor and that he had chosen the “wrong” career path in a recent interview with the website Fly on the Wall with Dana Carvey and David Spade podcast.

“Listen, I’m in the fourth quarter of the football game now, in life and in show business. That’s just a fact. So I can reveal now that I chose the wrong thing to do with my life,” Corbett said.

“I’ve made a lot of money. I live in a nice house. People come up to me in every restaurant I go to. I’m a friend to the world,” the actor continued. “But as far as a fulfilling creative professional life, I haven’t written a single stupid line. I haven’t written a single joke to make people laugh. So it hasn’t been satisfying in that respect.”

Corbett mentioned Emma Stone as someone he admires as an actress who is also involved in the creative process of putting a project together, after producing the films. Poor things And Types of Kindnessin collaboration with director Yorgos Lanthimos.

“I don’t collaborate with the writers,” Corbett says. “… Have you ever sat in a doctor’s office waiting room for an hour and wondered, ‘What the hell is going on?’ For me, that’s how you make a movie, because I’m not part of any of the creative process.”

“I’m not a movie actor… I’m really a TV actor, so he’s got to move fast and this guy’s got to make a million decisions. And we’re not having fun and going out for drinks afterwards,” he added. “So I’m at that point in my life… if something seems really, really fun, I’m going to say yes.”

Corbett’s comments come after he appeared in season 2 of And just like that… in which he reprises his role as Aidan Shaw, Carrie Bradshaw’s love interest, in Sex and the City TV series in 2023.

During the season, Aidan and Carrie (played by Sarah Jessica Parker) get back together and move into a new house in New York City after Aidan’s divorce. The couple’s romance is put in jeopardy by the finale, however, as Shaw must leave town for at least five years to care for his youngest son, Wyatt.

In May, Corbett was photographed back on set filming scenes with Parker, 59, in New York for the show’s third season.
