Former National Security Advisor John Bolton has expressed support for Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley following an explosive report alleging Milley secretly told a Chinese official that he would inform in advance of a possible attack on the Communist regime.
“Mark Milley is a strong supporter of the Constitution and the rule of law. His patriotism is unchallenged. In the days following Donald Trump’s electoral defeat on November 3, 2020, I can only imagine the pressure he and others were under to fulfill their constitutional obligations, ”Bolton said in a statement Wednesday. “I have no doubt that General Milley consulted widely with his colleagues in the National Security Council and others during this period. I would be very surprised if many of them weren’t completely out of the way of General Milley’s actions, and they fully subscribe to it.

In the next book “Peril”, written by Washington post reporters Bob Woodward and Robert Costa, Milley warned Chinese General Li Zuocheng that he would give advance warning if President Trump ordered an attack on the Communist regime. Milley made two calls to Zuocheng, one on October 30, 2020 and the other on January 8, 2021. Additionally, Woodward and Costa reported that Milley believed Trump was in mental decline, a view he took forwarded to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) during a phone call on January 8. The speaker would have agreed with the general’s assertions.
Trump responded on Tuesday with a scathing statement calling Milley a “fool” and insisting he had never considered attacking China.
Still, he said if the report was true, “I guess he would be tried for TREASON in that he would have dealt with his Chinese counterpart behind the president’s back and told China that he was doing them. would give notification “of an attack”. ‘ I can not do that !
