Joey Logano Fined $50,000 by NASCAR for Actions After Richmond Race

On the same day that NASCAR revoked Austin Dillon’s automatic spot in the 16-driver NASCAR Cup Series playoff field, it also fined Joey Logano for his post-race antics at Richmond on Sunday night.

Logano was fined $50,000 for smoking his tires as he drove past Dillon’s team and family on pit lane after the race. He said he would not appeal the fine.

Dillon won the race after a last-lap incident where he spun Logano and then clipped Denny Hamlin to take the checkered flag and what he thought was a an automatic playoff spot that comes with a regular season victory.

Logano displayed his displeasure with Dillon both in his car on pit lane and later during his post-race interview.

“He can come back from five car lengths down and completely destroy someone, then destroy another one on the line – and we’re going to call that a race?” Logano said.

Logano is currently assured of a playoff spot thanks to his victory in Nashville in June.
