The brothers are back!
Les Brothers Lawrence – Matthew, Joey and Andrew – went on stage in the 90s, Friday March 28 at Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, Conn.
In the panel animated by Dory Jackson of people, the trio opened the way they obtained their last name – and why they want to be able to change it.
“It was my second name,” said Joey, whose full legal name is Joseph Lawrence Mignogna. “So I was appointed according to our father and our grandfather on the side of our father.” Joey, 48, said that in the early 1980s, when he started playing, he was told: “No one can pronounce Cute. It is not a name that people will say.”
“Today, things like it are celebrated,” he said. “In the 80s, it was like:” We will have to water this. There is a silent GS. “”

They decided to use her second name, Lawrence, like her family name, and when Matthew, 45, and Andrew, 37, followed him in show business, this “was logical for them to use it as well.
Matthew stressed that there was an advantage to this, because it gave children of stars an intimacy in their out -of -screen life. “There was an insulation factor,” he said. “Some people could check the old school, but it would be very, very difficult to find us. It was a good thing.”
However, he said, “Now I’m stuck with two different names and I can’t travel internationally.”
The three brothers agreed that they wanted to be able to return to their original name. “It would have facilitated the task,” said Andrew. “It is really pain in the ass, honestly, like having two names. You must prove that you are both people.”
Matthew added: “Even for a while, the government only recognized me as Matt Lawrence because I paid taxes from the moment I was a young child at 18 as Matt Lawrence.”
“But really, my name is Matthew William Mignogna,” he said. “So when I grew up and used my real name on my passport, there was absolutely no correlation. I did not exist.”
The brothers played as the fictitious Roman brothers and sisters in the sitcom Fraternal love Together from 1995 to 1997. The series also featured Liz Vassey and Melinda Culea.

Joey was a new success in the early 90s with a main role Flourish. He also expressed Oliver in Disney Oliver & Company. Matthew received attention for her role in 1993 Mrs Doubtfire and his game that Jack Hunter, Shawn Hunter’s brother of the rider, on Boy meets the world. Andrew struck his role on Fraternal love and also expressed tj detweiler in the beloved cartoon Recreation.
In 2023, the brothers launched a podcast, also called Fraternal loveOn which they speak of their lives, their careers and other subjects of pop culture. Andrew said Entertainment tonight In 2023, “(reason) why I was so excited by this podcast is because it was an excuse for me to sit around a table and speak with my brothers and spend time with them. It is something that I really appreciate in life.”
