Joey Lawrence, Matthew Lawrence and Andrew Lawrence have become famous using a false family name – and now they say they regret it.
Friday, during a panel in the 90s in Hartford, the Lawrence brothers – whose real family name is cute – thought about sacrificing their family name to move forward in Hollywood.
“(Lawrence) was my second name,” said Joey Lawrence. “So I was appointed according to our father, and our grandfather on our father’s side. And in the early 80s it was like:” No one can pronounce cute. It is not a name that people will say. “”
THE Flourish Star added that he probably would not have to change his name if he started now. “Today, things like it are celebrated,” he said. “In the 80s, it was like:” We will have to water this. There is a silent GS. “Because you spell our surname (mignogna) as a cute net. So they said to themselves:” Let’s call it Joey Lawrence. So that’s exactly what they did, and with these guys, it made sense. ”
Matthew Lawrence suggested that the trio parents understood that stage names also grant the brothers a certain anonymity. “I also think that my parents, and wisely, (knew) that there was an insulation factor, where, before the internet, you could hide behind that, you know, at school”, the Mrs Doubtfire Actor said. “Some people could check the old school, but it would be very, very difficult to find us. It was a good thing.”
After the moderator of the panel asked if the brothers wanted to have kept Mignogna, the three Lawrences confirmed that they preferred their real family name. “It would have facilitated the task,” said Andrew Lawrence. “It is really pain in the ass, honestly, having two names. You must prove that you are both people.”

Matthew added that his double naming caused him trouble. “Now I’m just stuck with two different names and I can’t travel internationally,” he said. “For a while there, the government only recognized me as Matt Lawrence because I paid taxes from the moment I was a young child at 18 as Matt Lawrence. But really, my name is Matthew William Mignogna. So, when I grew up and used my real name on my passport, there was absolutely no correlation.”
Later in the panel, Joey explained why his brothers and sisters are his favorite Costars on the set. “We have always said that we would like to do a Hangover Film, and as the three of us are so fun to do something like that, “he said.” They were the best to work because … you don’t have to worry, you know? If you have a bad day, you have a good day – there is such consistency. “”

“There is such chemistry, camaraderie and forgiveness, patience,” he said. “No ego. All this is pretty great.”
