Smith against Murray?
Everyone always talks about the prolonged debate between Libertarian comics Dave Smith and the author Douglas Murray on “The Joe Rogan Experience”.
The Spotify superstar put the cat in motion, knowing that the two had extremely different views which would make a convincing exchange. It is a sad sign of the time when a debate between two well -intentioned adults is increasingly rare in pop culture.
The cat has more than allowed the two experts to share their opinions. It reminded Rogan an old saw that Uncle Ben taught a web-slinger in grass a long time ago.
With great power comes a great responsibility.

The underlying message in the cat? Rogan’s extremely popular show has let some cranks share its podcast microphone. It might not be important a few years ago, but now “Joe Rogan experience” has the power to shape the political landscape.
Many experts suggest that the appearance of Donald Trump in the series, as well as the reluctance of Kamala Harris to do the same, played a role in the victory of Mogul Immobilier.
Leaving the “historians” in Rogan’s studio which resists this label, spreading erroneous facts and refusing to take their criticism, may not be the best way to bend your podcast muscle.
Rogan played the Podcast Foodsie with the conspiracy merchant Alex Jones for a while. Now he extends this practice to the detriment of the format. Consider Ian Carroll and Darryl Cooper as two recent examples.
The latter called Winston Churchill, “The main villain of the Second World War.”
“I think you have opened the door to a lot of people who now have a large platform, who has thrown back historic things of a very dangerous genre,” said Murray at the start of the conversation. “These guys are not historians. They know nothing.”
“I just think:” I would like to talk to this person. “,” Said Rogan about his choice of guests.
The Hollywood journalist from the far left, feeling weakness in the armor of Rogan’s podcasting, called the recent inclination of the podcastor, “dangerous”. It’s exaggerated, but It is neither healthy nor useful.
A week later, Darryl Cooper arrived to perform his act, which can be described as offering scandalous provocations, he then returns halfway so that he can repeat them all tomorrow. In September, Cooper appeared on Tucker Carlson’s podcast to say that Churchill was the real villain of the Second World War and that the Nazis did not want to kill the Jews in concentration camps; The Jews did not “end up being dead” because Germany did not have the resources to take care of them.
Murray and Smith were not called or do not insult each other during the often tense exchange. Rogan turned out to be an avuncular host, trying to keep the games on a uniform keel. The two argued on foreign policy, the war of Ukraine and, above all, the conflict of Israel-Hamas.
The silky delivery of Murray and the impeccable understanding of the facts imported. Smith brought a prospect of everyone to the party, often appearing surpassed in the dust.

Who “won” depends in part who you root before the exchange. The two won a few blows, from Murray detailing the horrors of October 7 in Smith sharing the devastation in Gaza of the prolonged conflict.
It is increasingly rare to see these types of debate taking place on the landscape of pop culture. The total domination of Hollywood by the left means that there is little appetite for these healthy exchanges.
Consider the end -of -evening hosts today. They all sing the same progressive hymn and invite progressive guests to nod with the public. The host of “Jimmy Kimmel Live by ABC!” I just raged against President Donald Trump in an interview with Rolling Stone. Here is a part of his Jeremiad against all that is gop.
“There is no decency. It’s just a bunch of animals (Added imphasse), and it is disgusting … I mean, on July 4, I always put a flag, and I will never stop doing this, because I will never let them have this symbol. »»
Does it look like someone who is ready to organize a free and fair debate on their platform? Why can’t Kimmel invite someone like Dr. Jordan Peterson or Greg Gutfeld in his show for a civil conversation? This would make television convincing and could stimulate the shows of the show.
In addition, the public could remove something precious beyond demonizing those with whom they do not agree. It is increasingly clear that people on the left are not interested in this kind of exchange.
There is an exception, however. The classic liberal Bill Maher, both on his HBO talk show and his podcast “Club Random”, regularly invites guests to the right to talk about their differences. Think that Dave Rubin, Kid Rock and actor Zachary Levi, to name only three.

Rogan probably did not like to hear someone like Murray, well considered in many circles, abandon him in his own spectacle. He needed to hear it all the same. It recalls another pivotal moment of the spectacle past.
Rogan invited the CEO of Twitter at the time, Jack Dorsey, in his show for what seemed to be a warm cat that allowed Dorsey to move away from the censored tracks of his platform. Rogan obtained an ear of his fans who felt that he had let the CEO leave too easily. He therefore invited Dorsey to the series, but brought a backup.
He added the journalist Gadfly Tim Pool to the conversation. Pool brought unusual receipts, and the exchange has proven to be much more enlightening than the first interview.
Perhaps Rogan needed a reminder of the reasons why his show is important and the consequences of having one of the largest podcasts in the country.
Uncle Ben would be proud if he took this lesson seriously.
