The average weight of the UFC, Joe Pyfer, is not exactly sure of what caused the disease that forced him to get out of the fight against Kelvin Gastelum at the last minute, but that did not prevent him from tearing up an entire country for his problems.
Pyfer (13-3 MMA, 4-1 UFC) was planned for a main force test against Kelvin Gastelum at the UFC on ESPN 64. The match was one of the most anticipated fighting on the whole card, but Pyfer was forced a few hours before the event due to the disease.
Shortly after the confirmation of the news, Pyfer shared a message on social networks saying that it had a broken heart to have to withdraw from the fight and hoped that it could reprogram the fight against Gastelum (19-9 MMA, 13-9 UFC) in a few weeks.
After the event, Pyfer shared a longer explanation of what happened from its point of view, while offering excuses to Gastelum. Pyfer said he had gone to a team dinner, but that he hadn’t drunk the water throughout his stay in Mexico before the fight.
“I went to dinner, had food in a place that was supposed to trust, and yes – a few hours later, I had the shopping,” said Pyfer in a video published on Instagram Stories. “I think I’m at least 10, 11 times. I started from I think 209 pounds, something like that, like I still hydrated, in 194 pounds in the morning with a puddle in which I slept.
“(I had) a fever, nausea of course. Vomit, excruation of stomach pain, and the doctor, as well as me, did not find intelligent to fight like that. And I know that is not what everyone wants, but I have to pay attention to myself and my health, and what is my best interest. Believe me, I’m also upset. “
Pyfer explained that going through the process of leaving his family and friends for the fight, but that he cannot compete was also a financial blow because he was not paid. He hopes to keep Gastelum’s match because he thinks it’s a good fight that makes sense.
By closing his video, Pyfer went to burn the earth on Mexico as a country. While admitting that he was not sure of what caused the disease, Pyfer made the promise of never returning to Mexico, qualifying the nation of “hole sh * t”.
“I don’t care if it’s offensive for you, I will never go back to this country,” said Pyfer. “I did everything correctly. I slept in a tent. I did all this work to stay sick. Some people say it was not food, saying that I had the altitude harm. I am not af * cking geographical f * cking, you know, in elevation f * cking scientific, but I was told as long as I acclimatized, what I did for two months, I slept in a tent on the F * CKRA – you know, I do everything I could.
“If that’s what altitude and elevation is, f * CK this country. I will never fight again.
