Joe Biden promises to make every military vehicle ‘climate friendly’

On Friday, President Joe Biden celebrated Earth Day, promising to make every US military vehicle “climate friendly.”

“We’re going to start the process, where every vehicle in the US military, every vehicle will be climate-friendly,” he boasted. “Every vehicle. No, I really mean it, we spend billions of dollars doing it.

It’s unclear how the president plans to make America’s largest and most powerful petroleum-fuelled vehicles “climate-friendly,” but he’s made it clear that it’s a priority.

The president spoke about his plan at Seward Park in Seattle to promote his green energy program.

The Pentagon is developing a “zero emissions” plan for its non-tactical fleets by 2035, but the goal of a fully “climate-friendly” tactical army is nowhere on the horizon.

Studies have raised concerns about an all-electric tactical fleet, as many theaters of war do not have sufficient advanced power grids to charge vehicles. An electric tactical vehicle would also face the problem of getting shot and setting the battery system on fire.

But Biden has spoken of his love of cars, as well as his eagerness to promote electric vehicles – despite personally owning a gas-powered car.

“I’m a car enthusiast,” he says. “I have a 1968 Corvette that just pollutes the air. But I don’t drive much.
