According to French police, a sculpture by the late singer and poet Jim Morrison who disappeared from his grave in Paris in Paris.
“After 37 years of absence, the bust of Jim Morrison, stolen in 1988 in the Père Lachaise cemetery, was found,” the management of the Paris regional judicial police wrote on Friday in an Instagram post.
He added that “this emblematic symbol for the singer’s fans was recovered” during an investigation by the financial and anti-corruption brigade, under the authority of the Paris prosecutor’s office.
“It was a fortuitous discovery made during a search ordered by a magistrate examining at the Court of Paris,” the prosecutor’s office said on Tuesday.
Jeff Jampol, Director of Domaine Jim Morrison, said on Tuesday in a statement that they were “happy to hear” the rediscovery of the statue, adding: “Obviously, it is a piece of history, and a family of Jim wanted there on his grave, so it is rewarding to see that he was recovered.”
“Now we will have to see in what form is the bust,” he continued.
Morrison, the charismatic charismatic of the psychedelic rock group of the 1960s, The Doors, died in 1971, at only 27 years old.
