Jey Uso to fight for vacant world title after knocking out his own twin brother

The main event of tonight’s (Oct. 20) episode of Raw was a Battle Royal to determine who will wrestle CM Punk to become the new World Heavyweight Champion on Nov. 1 in Saturday night’s main event.

Big news came well before the main event began when general manager Adam Pearce informed Paul Heyman that Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed had been removed from the match chart and were no longer participating in the bout. This happened after The Vision attempted to humiliate Pearce in the series’ opening segment.

There were plenty of stories to tell in the Battle Royal, including Sheamus’ return to Raw and the elimination of Judgment Day members JD McDonagh and Finn Balor. They didn’t play fair after that and dragged the Celtic Warrior over the ropes for Kofi Kingston to eliminate him.

Dominik Mysterio also had an eventful match, starting with his simultaneous elimination of Penta and Rusev. Dirty Dom was then eliminated by AJ Styles, but Mysterio ran back and continued when he realized the referees didn’t see his feet hit the floor.

Meanwhile, Jimmy Uso saved his twin brother Jey several times during the fight. But when it came to the final four and Jimmy was in trouble with LA Knight as both men leaned over the top rope, Jey took advantage of the situation for a double elimination. Jimmy was not at all happy about his twin brother throwing himself out of the ring like that.

This left Jey Uso and Dirty Dom as the final two wrestlers in the match. Jey had his back to Mysterio as Jimmy listened to him from the outside. Dominik came from behind with a 619, but Jey countered him and secured the victory.

That means it will be CM Punk vs. Jey Uso for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship on November 1 in Saturday night’s main event.
