Jets Complete Interview with Chris Spielman for GM Spot

The Jets have completed a virtual interview with Chris Spielman for the general manager vacancy.

Spielman, 59, has been the special assistant to the president, CEO & chairperson for the Lions since 2021. He helped Detroit, which finished the 2024 season with a franchise-record 15 wins and the No. 1 seed in the NFC, in hiring general manager Brad Holmes and head coach Dan Campbell.

Spielman, who was an All-American linebacker at Ohio State, was originally drafted by the Lions in the second round in 1988 and is the leading tackler in franchise history. He played with Detroit for eight seasons before two years with the Bills.

After he retired, Spielman, who grew up in Massillon, OH, worked for Fox and ESPN as a broadcaster. He also spent seven seasons as a television analyst in the preseason for the Lions.

Jets Chairman Woody Johnson is leading the searches for a head coach and general manager. He hired The 33rd Team in a support role to help identify and vet candidates in addition to coordinate interviews.
