Jessica Alba and her husband Cash Warren are ending their marriage after 16 years together.
In an Instagram post shared on Thursday, Alba confirmed their split, writing: “I have been on a journey of self-realization and transformation for years, both as an individual and in partnership with Cash. I am proud of how we have grown as a couple and in our marriage over the past 20 years and now it is time for us to embark on a new chapter of growth and evolution as individuals.
Although they are no longer together, Alba said the two “move forward with love, kindness and respect for each other and will forever be family.”
“Our children remain our highest priority and we ask for privacy at this time,” she finished her message.
Alba and Warren met in 2004 on the set of Fantastic Fourin which Alba played the role of Sue Storm. Warren worked as an assistant to director Tim Story during filming.
They married in 2008 and share three children aged 7, 13 and 16.
Last year, Alba celebrated her wedding anniversary by writing on Instagram: “I’m proud of us for making it this far. There is no real set of rules or advice that can prepare you for what it means to commit to another person and choose to start a family.
“Through thick and thin, we continually found our way to each other and chose each other. Well done to us, I love you,” Alba also said in her post at the time.
In addition to acting, Alba is the founder of Honest Company, a baby and personal care products company launched in 2012. Last April, Alba stepped down as the company’s chief creative officer. In a statement on Instagram at the time, Alba wrote: “While there has never been an easy time to make this decision, I know we have a leadership team in place with (CEO) Carla Vernón at the helm to advance our founding vision and strengthen Honest’s legacy as an industry changemaker.
“As we reimagine the future of the company, we have greatly benefited from the guidance of our founder Jessica Alba. A true visionary, Jessica founded Honest with the desire to bring higher standards of clean ingredients and sustainable design to baby and personal care products,” Vernón said in a statement. “I offer our deepest gratitude on behalf of the leadership team, our board of directors and generations of honest employees for Jessica’s leadership over the years. I am pleased that Jessica will continue as an advisor in her role as a member of our board of directors. And, as she focuses on exciting new ventures, we’ll be cheering her on.
At the time, Alba noted that she was shifting her focus to “new projects and passions.”
