If a recent Disney + Marvel show seemed ready to get a second season, it was Hawkeye. He played one of the original avengers, played by Jeremy Renner; Set up a new younger version of the hero of Kate Bishop by Hailee Steinfeld; And told a story featuring characters who have returned to other places like Kingpin, Yelena, Echo and others.
Well, according to Renner, he was asked to have a second season, but we only offered him half of what he had done for the first season, so he refused it. “They asked me to make a season two, and they gave me half of the money,” said Renner on the High performance podcast. “I say to myself:” Well, it will take me twice as much work for half the amount of money and eight months of my time, essentially, to do it for half the amount. “”
“I say to myself:” I’m sorry? For what? Did you think I’m only half of Jeremy because I went?
Renner quickly added that it was not Marvel who did this, but the accountants in Disney. “It’s not wonderful, beware,” said Renner. “It’s like, just Disney, not really really Disney. These are just Penny’s Pinchers, the accountants. I told them to go and fly a kite. I mean, just in the Insult offer. So we did not look at each other.”
This, if we are honest, does not add up. Disney East Marvel and the accountants working for Disney represent Marvel. But the involvement, it seems, is that Renner does not want to blame Marvel’s creative people, just people who sign their checks.
Io9 contacted Disney to comment and an initiate there challenged the statements of Renner, but failed to go into details. It is therefore certainly its side of history.
The hesitation to renounce to put the blame specifically on anyone who is probably also because he says that he would like to play Hawkeye in the future. “Unfortunately, I still like the character. I would always love to do it, but I had to defend myself,” he said. “I didn’t ask for more money, be careful. Pay me what I did the first season. So it’s a little discouraging that it did not happen, but it’s good. I’m happy to let go, because my body probably thanks me, many times, that I do not do it for the moment. But we will see.”

So there you have it. In the current state of things, it certainly seems to be Hawkeye Season two is not currently underway. Which is a shame. We would have loved to see Renner continue to supervise Kate Bishop as it increases the ranks of the Marvel cinematographic universe. But maybe things will come together in the future.
